it is the season of ramadan. the whole city is decorated with little lights. i have something for colored lights.
and photographing them makes me think about how things change when we bring them out of context.

i have sand everywhere, in my bed, in my ears, in my bag, under my nails. the sand is so ergonomic, shaping around your body into the most comfortable surface to rest on.
a bottle of beer and a bag of crisps for lunch might not be too healthy but oh so joyful. especially when shared with a sweet friend with happy toes.
and this song is very beautiful.
look at the woman on the top picture, i was fascinated by her posture, full of integrity. she stood like this for pretty long. watching the horizon. curious what went through her mind?
i ate a lot of fruits from the prickly pear and still have some thorns in my lip and in my fingers. the days and nights are so hot and i eat, rest, meditate, sew, read, think and dream next to this red little table. sometimes there is a very pleasant breeze there, around the table. accompanied by this roaming tiger and a few lost cockroaches.
apropos cockroaches *part of the inevitable reality over here, no matter how well you clean*, they used to make my heart miss a few beats and my voice to do this high pitch note, and last night i noticed they don’t anymore. i just ask them kindly to leave and hope they will listen. 1-0 to me. i scored again!
enjoy august, enjoy it as much as you possibly can.
"Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world."
- Ada Louise Huxtable
(mishmash of june’s and july’s, from 2008 until now.)
the other day i bought this better used favorite shirt in a thrift store for a few cents. a no stress smiley with an anarchist sign on his bandana, that is what you would call ‘sfeerverhogend’ in dutch!
the bad news are: i have reached checkmate. my queen is in a coma, the knights ran away and the king is caught in a corner. with nowhere to escape.i have no clue how to play this game anymore.
the good news are: first the avocado plant grew an approximate of 25 centimeters in a week. i hope it will penetrate the ceiling in the near future. secondly, 1 out of 2 babies fell asleep while i was baby sitting them. 50% is not a bad score, if i may say so myself. and thirdly, the above mentioned good news do bring a little spark of hope into the above above mentioned bad news.
he, who lives in a library full of stories and who likes seagulls, drinks buckets of coffees, who’s car is his castle, who’s favorite color is black, who can eat an enormous semla without complaining, who always encouraged and supported my photography, who can make a full course feast on a miniature grill, who has the most generous heart, who never walks the same way twice,
has his birthday!
KUL! but what a shame that i won’t celebrate it with you. have a lovely day, and a great new year.♥
best place to put things into proportions. and you only learn to juggle with one ball. have a peaceful weekend!
we just can’t stop talking. all night long. there’s no time to rest cause we have so much to share and to discuss. and in between those long, deep talks we go all silly singing songs while dancing in the living room and eating too much ice cream.
arriving back home after a few days out of town i was greeted by this new born avocado plant. now each time i enter the balcony i feel a little bit happier.
hereby i confess that i am not a fan of the iphone epidemics. perhaps i am too old-fashioned after all. *i need to show you my mobile phone once* but there were a few sweet pictures taken with one during our time in italy that i wanted to share with you.
the last week i went from 10 minutes of meditation to 30 min each morning. more than anything it is a challenge to stick with the commitment of doing it, being loyal to myself and not giving up. for two weeks. at least. then i will see. i am trying to be aware of my emotional weathers. letting them pass without identifying too much with them. phu, easier said then done.
wishing you a sweet day.
