purim on it's way

last year i dressed up as pippi/bilbi. this year, i have no idea whatsoever. help, anyone?

entertainment for a rainy day

it is rainy stormy weather here. we are sitting next to the fireplace all day. even the neighborhood dogs moved inside with us. a perfect day to watch a movie. we are planning to see waltz with bashir or encounters at the end of the world.

here a few of my favorite movies, for those who are lacking inspiration of what to see:

1. citizen dog, which is a thai movie and therefore not very easy to find. im still hoping to download it one day. it has a similar feel to it like amelie from montmartre. but then in an asian version…

2. code 46 made me cry a few times already. science fiction (but without the emphasize on science) with a love story, kinda.

3. after i saw into the wild i was preoccupied for at least a week after with its content. based on a true story. reminded me that we know very little of real survival…

4. breaking the waves should definitely be avoided when one is depressed (i guess this counts for most of trier’s movies). how they managed to fit so much drama into a few hours of a movie is quite impressive.

if anyone feels like recommending me a few good movies, id be very happy to hear!

not meant to be

last night i went down to tel aviv, especially so that i would be there in the morning for an important class i wanted to take.
we woke up on time, had a fresh juice on the street before arriving at the garage to pick the car. (tel aviv is a city of horror for driving. you spend more time finding a place to park then you do in traffic jams) once we arrive at the garage, we can't find the car keys. so findus ran back to the apartment where we slept. there he can't find them either, so he phones me and turns out he put them in my back pack... he runs back to the garage. we start driving. the clock is ticking.
then the car breaks down, in the middle of the road, in rush hour. findus manage to kick it going after a few minutes. i have ten more minutes before the class starts. we arrive at the street where i need to be five minutes before nine. i jump out and start looking for house nr 1. i find nr 36. i find nr 23. and then...the street vanishes. no more street. no nr 1. i ask about 7 people, and no one knows where to find number 1. i walk forward and back, searching for another ten minutes. then i gave up and walked to the train station. lets say it was all for the better.

victory

i won another bet today. the second one in a few weeks.
this one was about cottage cheese. many israelis believe that cottage cheese originated in israel. i say they are wrong... and not only based on this text.
the first one i won was about a word in some lyrics. then i won a trip to ikea and a pack of swedish cookies. (still planning when this occasion will take place)
oh, about the cottage cheese, we were so eager to find out what was the deal, that we forgot to mention what the winner would get. the honor i guess.

not enough

...that i work with him throughout the whole day, i dream about my boss almost every night lately. what does my subconscious want to tell me? can i have a vacation please! at least at night?

baking queens

i spent my friday baking and cooking. my house gets warmer from the oven, it smells delicious, and i am happy to run forward and back, cutting, mixing, whipping, drinking tea, and listening to music that fits my kitchen mood. like meditation.

i made sweet potato&orange muffins, the recipe comes from yaelians very inspiring blog, she gave me so many ideas already, and it is easy enough to translate it, just check the upper right corner.

yes i do, among other things. today is the last day of this week and i wonder how to make it through. my muscles are extremely sore and tired. great news for the weekend is that the kibbutz pub is re-opening. it burned down about a year ago, leaving the brave and restless with no options for a tuesday/friday wild night. i almost never went there, but even i am happy about the fact that the option will be there again. so, tomorrow night, i will be pubing!

but first of all, i need to drag myself down to the studio, and manage this day.

miss secretary

i became one so it seems. writing cv's for the dancers. sending emails. checking flight tickets.
what would be a good price to charge per hour?

awake

IMG_3874

today i woke after nine and a half hours of sleep. sharp and clear. with enough time to enjoy the morning. i felt so rested and happy when i went to work. and the air was crisp and the sky blue.

can i join the conference?

fru a, i also had a cookie moment today.
these cookies reminds me of brago. and i like brago. simple and tasty. oreo cookies are tasty too.
oh, and i miss the singoalla cookies.

but, in the end of the day, there is nothing like knäckflarn with filling..

i'll order some from the gnome.

tjicktjack

food, food, food. must be quite obvious by now how important food is in my life. but sometimes i have nor the time nor the motivation to cook at length. yesterday i had foamy coffee and granola for breakfast. easy enough. and for dinner, i thought i’d share this kickass dish, which is such a piece of cake to prepare.

all you need is:

*rice
*broccoli
*spinach/silver beet/other greens (i use local greens that grow wild, jihoo!)
*garlic
*spring onions
*lemon
*oil
*miso paste
*salt and optional chili pepper for those who like is spicy. i like to use the fresh ones.

*boil the rice until its done...
*fry spring onions, garlic and chili pepper in oil
*add chunks of broccoli
*fry it all on a pretty high flame, i like to keep the veggies crunchy, so i don't fry it too long
*add spinach or other leaves plus the lemon ( i cut slices of lemon,  with peel and all, and throw it inside, it looks very pretty aswell) make sure to add the lemon only the last few minutes that it won't give a bitter taste!
*add the miso paste
mix it with the rice, eat, have a beer, and do the dishes. (if there is no gnome that does it)
sorry for the not very sharp picture.

it was tasty, however.

it would be nice

if i had a little gnome living in my house. he would wait for me to get home and he’d make me a cup of tea, prepare a footbath for my inflamed foot, cook a tasty dinner and most of all do the dishes afterwards. then he would sit next to me on the couch and talk about the day that has passed, and he would bring me back down to earth when i fly too far away with my thoughts.

yes, that would be very nice...

the weather is sweet

i had a good weekend. and this morning i had a great trip back home. first i hitchhiked with a woman (on her initiative, i was simply waiting for the bus) and we spoke about politics, solutions, life... she told me she is not optimistic, but at least realistic.

then i took a cab, and the cabdriver was a sweet man who seemed very happy to meet someone who lived in the netherlands, just like he did once. he told me plenty of fond memories from that time, and then we also spoke about politics, language, countries.

i enjoy to meet people like that, for a brief moment, and to share your thoughts and ideas with them. plus, it is a great opportunity to practice both hebrew and arabic.

dancing in the livingroom is fun. to this song since it is friday, and to this song for its lovely groove, and to this one for the sake of old memories...

aestetichs

grrrr. it annoys me that while posting, the pictures are next to eachother, and once your done it looks like below.

what to do on a rainy day with no internet

you can wear a dress for your four walls.

and invite a dog to sleep at your place.

and drink black, sweet coffee cause there is no milk at home.

and bake/eat some cookies and play with the dog.

and make some pickles. these are lemony kohlrabi's.

a one day internet strike

and i was reminded once more how addictive it is....
so i am very pleased to see that my internet connection is working again!

me, i collect bruises

one on each wrist. and a few along the lower arm. there is something fascinating about bruises.

now, i just screwed up my blog. i tried to change a few settings, and now i am not sure if i like what happened. i simply want to have a wider space for the pictures. but with the header still in the middle. hm. but i can't seem to get what i want. what do you guys think?

election day today, and cause of that i am free! but i can't vote... i hope it will go well, but i must say i am skeptical.

happy new tree!

'man is a tree of the field'
and today we are celebrating the new year of the trees. i find it beautiful to acknowledge the importance of trees. trees give fruit. they give shade. they produce oxygen. they make rain.

so, one of the best things we can do in life is to plant trees. trees are investments. (i've said it before, i say it again)

i might just go and hug one now.

more dogs and hugs for the people

yesterday, for a moment, i had the motive of the above picture on my right hand side and the green field on my left hand. it was a nice view. both ways.

tonight, i am watching the moon, which seems to have a vibrant halo around itself.
and i am eating oreo's. and mentos with strawberry flavor. but before that i cooked, a very tasty and quite unusual dinner.

goodnight
