one of the things i would have loved to bring on tour is bones. he is so good at making me smile. and one of my dreams is to bring him to sweden one day. preferable when there is snow. he'd go crazy.

WHAT TO BRING?
i am not a fan of packing for long trips when you have only a few washing opportunities.

indeed adventurous

this weekend has been quite intense on impressions. well, you might recalling the story of last week when i was planning to take a class in the morning, and we lost the car keys, the car broke down, and the search for the non existing street? well, the story continued this week. once more, i went down to the center to take this class, wednesday night. it was quite late and we were hungry, so half way down we stopped at a gas station to get something to snack. and locked the keys into the car….un/fortunately, we realized how easy it actually is to break into a toyota!

the next day, we drove off to the dead sea. we slept in a cave, spent the whole night alternating between the hot spring and floating in the dead sea, under the moon and the stars, watching the beach of jordan in the distance. amazing…  walking back to the car next day, we realized that someone broke the drivers window, and the window in the bag. later, as leaving the dead sea, we drove slowly and found half of our stuff thrown away alongside the road. my borrowed jeans, the wallets, broken bottles of massage oil that i bought etc. quite lucky after all.

after a few hours of driving through the desert and ‘the valley’, we arrived in the area of haifa were we needed to drop our friends. one of them suggested that we would take a shortcut over the field to avoid the end of shabbat traffic jam. and that is how we got stuck in a huge mud puddle, with water reaching halfway up the door of the car. oh, what a funny sight, a messy toyota with broken windows, full of bags and equipment, a dog and four people stuck in the mud. after waiting for a while we arranged someone to come and pull us out of it. and today it is sunday again. back to work after an exciting weekend.

today

IMG_4137  IMG_4136

the leaves of mr.tulip are falling. and i just ate half a packet of cookies. it wasn’t such a good idea. and i am wondering what to do with my life when i am not eating cookies. time will tell. i guess.

oh,

and finding 2nd hand stores of course!

countdown

we have a few more days left 'at home' before going on a three week long tour.
three. weeks. is. a. long. time.
and we've had some very difficult tours in the past. so the company is a bit anxious about how it will be. me, personally, i have been kind of avoiding the fact that the tour is slowly, slowly coming closer. but yesterday we got our schedule. and at the same time a never ending speech from our boss about the challenge of touring, and how he'd like to see us dealing with problems on tour.

it is hard to explain to people that touring is actually not peaches and cream. who would not be happy to travel when getting payed to do so? however, it is not that easy...
but rather than going into those less pleasant details right now, i will focus on the positive:

*meeting friends from europe.

*having a kiba "kirsch banan" drink in germany.

*distance from the daily life here, and all the great things that can bring.

*eating out in italy. drinking coffee in italy. buying parmesan in italy. eating ice cream in italy. (no news that food play a big part in my life)

*having the time to read plenty of books.

now, i will start packing!

i want dreams like this

DSC05601

goodnight.godnatt. laylatov. welterusten. tisbah al kher.

breathe in breathe out

today at work i had to stop myself a few times, just to take deep breathes and to make sure i wouldn't have a tantrum.
i managed without. almost. but all that suppressing of energy left me completely drained.
now i locked my door, to dwell in blogs and coffee drinking until i feel more cheerful.

another treat on this shitty day was that the package from my sweet sophia arrived, which we thought was lost. thank you love!

piping

it is a great idea to have colorful pipes. it makes me think of 'centre pompidou'. i feel like going to paris...

'shrooms

another good idea is to grow mushrooms in your bathroom. for those who have the inclination. this one was very tasty.

we fell asleep

so we did. in the mornings. in the nights. in the middle of the day aswell.

purim on it's way

last year i dressed up as pippi/bilbi. this year, i have no idea whatsoever. help, anyone?

entertainment for a rainy day

it is rainy stormy weather here. we are sitting next to the fireplace all day. even the neighborhood dogs moved inside with us. a perfect day to watch a movie. we are planning to see waltz with bashir or encounters at the end of the world.

here a few of my favorite movies, for those who are lacking inspiration of what to see:

1. citizen dog, which is a thai movie and therefore not very easy to find. im still hoping to download it one day. it has a similar feel to it like amelie from montmartre. but then in an asian version…

2. code 46 made me cry a few times already. science fiction (but without the emphasize on science) with a love story, kinda.

3. after i saw into the wild i was preoccupied for at least a week after with its content. based on a true story. reminded me that we know very little of real survival…

4. breaking the waves should definitely be avoided when one is depressed (i guess this counts for most of trier’s movies). how they managed to fit so much drama into a few hours of a movie is quite impressive.

if anyone feels like recommending me a few good movies, id be very happy to hear!

not meant to be

last night i went down to tel aviv, especially so that i would be there in the morning for an important class i wanted to take.
we woke up on time, had a fresh juice on the street before arriving at the garage to pick the car. (tel aviv is a city of horror for driving. you spend more time finding a place to park then you do in traffic jams) once we arrive at the garage, we can't find the car keys. so findus ran back to the apartment where we slept. there he can't find them either, so he phones me and turns out he put them in my back pack... he runs back to the garage. we start driving. the clock is ticking.
then the car breaks down, in the middle of the road, in rush hour. findus manage to kick it going after a few minutes. i have ten more minutes before the class starts. we arrive at the street where i need to be five minutes before nine. i jump out and start looking for house nr 1. i find nr 36. i find nr 23. and then...the street vanishes. no more street. no nr 1. i ask about 7 people, and no one knows where to find number 1. i walk forward and back, searching for another ten minutes. then i gave up and walked to the train station. lets say it was all for the better.
