abandoned

try to imagine this: sneaking into an old abandoned spa, today serving as a military base. the spa could have been built sometime in the 1940’s-50’s, but was probably abandoned straight after. there is a pool house where the roof has fallen in. the pool is filled with hot water from a natural sulfur spring, crystal clear, a strong smell of sulfur, amazingly soothing for the body. to your east you see the hills of jordan, and to the west an old abandoned mosque. peacocks are running wild between the bushes. palm trees and lush plants. broken windows and shutters made of wood. you walk around, discovering each little house, with it’s own piece of history. and then you sit in the warm water, watching the sun set, washing the sky with pink and then the stars rising above your head.

wow.

oh and this link fits.

Man bara förundras..

What a find! Looks fantastic. I remember walking around a small island in Indonesia which had a number of abandoned resorts ... they were eerily beautiful along with a little sadness

I am sick with envy over this...if I were there, it would have been the best day of my life. I LOVE abandoned places and this sounds like a beautiful one to find. And the way you describe it, I can tell it was breathtaking. Count yourself blessed to have spent the day there.
lucky girl :)

Woaw..!

What beauty and mystery. You capture it all so well. These settings are so literary, I can almost see the words written on the page of a great piece of literature. Wow.

looks like you've been shooting pretty stunning architecture yourself! no, i do not think there is more powerful architecture than abandoned architecture. time and again i find the hidden stories unrevealed are the most powerful, the most lingering and therefore the most significant.
thxs for pointing that out, once again.
love the 'living mixture' in, in this series, btw!
