temporary homes

IMG_2029IMG_2040IMG_2033

i keep sleeping in many different places. different cities, different beds, different people. my all time favorite though, is probably sleeping outdoors. what do we need after all? something to lay on, a blanket to cover ourselves with, and a mosquito net. this weekend i was camping out with a big bunch of people, next to this beautiful waterfall. these are a few of the temporary homes from the weekend.

tonight i dreamt that my camera fell into water and stopped working. what a nightmare. and now, struggling with the tax office and accountants. be brave!

welcome to my madhouse

_MG_9735-pola

a mountain of dishes in the kitchen. tons of dirty laundry in the sleeping room. a lost suitcase (again). a few white nights *that’s how they call it in hebrew, sleepless nights basically* behind me. mice running in the wall. a restriction from the tax office. general identity crisis and tomorrow i am waking up at 4.30. but hey, i am not complaining, i just roll my eyes and gag instead.

morning at camp

_MG_1418_MG_1352_MG_1346

i found my usb cable. bliss. oh. bliss. also, i found a second hand underskirt in zagreb. not those synthetic sleazy ones, but one from good old cotton. with a little embroidery. perhaps it was made by some croatian grandmother? made me wonder how come i almost always sleep with a pajama? and realized that if, for what ever reason. you might need to escape quickly at night, you are already dressed. you won’t find yourself naked on the street. what a level of anticipation!

i am reading another book by murakami again, this man is a genius, i wish i could invite him for a cup of tea or a glass of whiskey…i have plenty of things to tell him!

now i need to inject some coffee/take a cold shower if i want to wake from this zombie state of mind. what are your plans for this weekend, folks?

ciao!

zagreb. then and now

june 007

two years ago when i was in zagreb, i also enjoyed photographing windows. if i will close a deal on a second home, an apartment in the center for my working days, i have this fantasy of filling the windowsill with plants and flowers. those that can survive the cruel middle eastern sun. yesterday we had a very enjoyable performance here. communicative audience and lots of energy. today my body is sore, my muscles are stiff and my mind is blurry. nothing that a croatian beer can’t fix. i hope. have a good day.

i wonder

vogue

these days i wonder what happens the moment before we die? and i wonder what happens after? i wonder where you are now, els, and what you would have told me about it, if you could? i wonder if i will be brave when i die? if i will dare to let go? these days, it seems terribly scary to me. i wonder if you were scared? these are a few of the many things i wonder. while walking the sunny streets of zagreb, in between rehearsals and croatian beer. i wonder. and my mind won’t stop wondering.

after forgetting the camera itself, the second worst is forgetting the cable to the camera. can’t seem to find it. oh, what a hard life…

saturday morning

_MG_1324-pola _MG_1326-pola

this saturday morning i had these two very enthusiastic sisters ordering me to photograph them in their bikinis. later both of them changed into swimming suits since the bikini tops were too uncomfortable. i must say i never got the idea of bikini tops for little girls. i hardly understood the point of it all together, but i still wear one, once in a while. still, nothing like a nude dip, when the coast is clear of course…  i am busy packing my bag for zagreb, while drinking coffee and writing letters. me♥weekends.

i almost never wear nail polish. but this week i did. just before i went to plant lettuce in the garden. and then i realized what a stunning color combination it made, the nail polish, the lettuce and the soil. you can call me disturbed if you want to. i am. anyhow, the contrast also suits me. instead of being careful not to destroy the freshly painted nails, i just shove them straight down in the earth.

now i am planning to eat a kilo of pasta and crash. have a great weekend.

things to put in a fire

 _MG_1165_MG_1166_MG_1150

bonfires and toasted marshmallows. that get stuck to your hair if you are unlucky. i avoid eating marshmallows, cause i don’t want to eat gelatin. but it looks pretty tasty. and unhealthy..mmmm

since my sleeping marathon in the beginning of this week due to my flu, i feel like i kicked off my sugar addiction a tiny bit. all of a sudden i am aware of how sweet sugar really is. it is enough to eat a very small amount, and it sort of explodes in my mouth. let’s see how long i can keep it up. the coffee habit is slowly creeping back however. from a conscious choice though.

tonight i dreamt of a house with pink walls, pink cupboards and many hidden doors and corridors. it was all very fairytale like, from this empty, pinkish room i found myself getting lost in new spaces, new worlds. i will need to do some interpretation on that one.

It's never quite right, he said, the way people look,
the way the music sounds, the way the words are
written.
It's never quite right, he said, all the things we are
taught, all the loves we chase, all the deaths we
die, all the lives we live,
they are never quite right,
they are hardly close to right,
these lives we live
one after the other,
piled there as history,
the waste of the species,
the crushing of the light and the way,
it's not quite right,
it's hardly right at all
he said.

how are we doing, miss?

_MG_1199_MG_1180_MG_1198

and then the body says ‘no f***ing way’ and shuts down. glossy eyes, pounding sinuses, fever and a never ending cough. always weird to be sick when it is crazy hot outside.

funny how our mind will do the best to resist being sick. i especially love the argument of not having the time to be sick. well, you better make some time then, cause the body won’t care about such useless excuses. i guess i won’t need to wake up at four tomorrow. even though my mind is still planning to pack the bag and put the alarm, just in case….

snapshots from a train ride

IMG_1992  IMG_1995IMG_1983

it is already may. for seven days now. this past few months are passing so quickly. while inside of me, everything seems to be going slowly, taking time. had a very long and hardworking week, which ended up in a sore throat and sinus pains at the time the weekend started. gave me a good excuse to drink some whiskey last night and to stay in bed with my tea this morning.

two favorite songs from this week, perfect for long train rides when you get lost in thoughts and daydreaming. angus&julia (thank you ingetje♥) & little dragon, who happen to be swedish (thank you maarten♥)

wish you all a swell weekend. kiss!

little lily moment

IMG_1968

looking at and smelling these for a week now. took them time to open, as if they were shy. now they perfume the whole house. they are almost too good to be true. some tiger lilies to go with that one.

stitch and bitch

IMG_1969 IMG_1973

so, as i mentioned before there was no need to throw out any TV over here. instead, i have been sewing a top. while drinking beer. it might explain the crooked stitching in the end. a few other DIY projects these weekend was making cheese from goats milk, granola, strawberry cheesecake and energy bars. plenty of action in the kitchen.

dreaming a lot of my friend who passed away. how i go to visit her in a old folks home. she has a big room with many plants. she is standing next to the window, looking outside and she won’t speak to me.

i wish this weekend would last longer, it seemed like it just started. but you can’t have it all, put your whiskers up and promise the bus driver never to stop smiling!
